I stopped reading it. I made it through about 85% of the book, but was skimming from about 70% on. I just couldn’t force myself to continue. What a piece of crap. If you have any notion of picking this one up, DON’T. Or if you do, read the first chapter and then write your own ending, preferably one in which Lolita takes a melon scoop to his testicles. Because that’s what I would have written.
Big thanks go out to Amy and Moonspun for saving me from wasting another few hours of my life on that pathetic drivel. Now I need to figure out how to get it permanently erased from my Kindle account.
(Can you tell I absolutely hated this book?)
On to Clarity by Kim Harrington. Give me a good, paranormal mystery set in one of my favorite places*, any day.
*It’s set on Cape Cod. The above photo was taken at the very tip of the cape- Provincetown – on my trip there last November. I love that photo.
Oof. I hadn’t heard of this book, and I’m kind of glad now I hadn’t – I wouldn’t be able to read it, either. :-s
Yes, I’m definitely wishing I had never picked it up. Oh well. Live and learn. Thanks for coming by!
I couldn’t get through Lolita either. In fact, I couldn’t even get through the first couple of pages at the bookstore, so I didn’t even attempt it! Good for you for trying.
I wish I was one of those people who could read the classics, but I’m just a contemporary lit kind of girl!
Thanks! I’m always looking for a good read. Unfortunately, the NEA and I don’t have the same taste. Haha. Do you have a favorite author?
I have been missing the ocean tons lately….it’s a lovely photo!
Thank you! Hubby takes great photos. Is RP doing the Race to the Beach again this year?
